RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — The Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives invited President Donald Trump to deliver his State of the Union address from the state General Assembly.
Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) announced the invitation via press release on Friday.
United States House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested that Trump should postpone the address because of security concerns in light of the partial government shutdown.
“North Carolina, like Washington D.C., has a balanced government that provides opportunity for all voices to be heard through dialogue rather than division,” Moore wrote in his letter to Trump.
